Joleen stood in the kitchen staring at a knife she just picked up, searching her mind for why she had a knife in her hand. I know there’s a reason I’m holding this knife, there must be. What was it? Oh well, maybe I needed to slice some bread. That’s probably it. Wait a minute – I’m standing in the kitchen in my home in Chillicothe, Missouri – Home of Sliced Bread! Our bread is already sliced, what am I thinking?
Joleen put down the knife. It’ll come back to me, I’m sure it will. I’ll just check on the laundry. Once in the laundry room, she stood blankly. Why am I here in the laundry room? Hmmmm. Oh, that’s right. Check on the laundry, dummy. Well – no laundry in the hamper, no clothes in the dryer. Well, I’ll just go gather up some clothes.
She went into the bedroom and felt the urge, so she went into the bathroom. Before she sat down, she looked down in the toilet. Mercy, that toilet needs a good scrubbing. I’ll get right on it when I’ve finished my business. When she finished her business, she got up, left the bathroom, and went into the living room to dust.
In the living room, she looked around. Now what am I doing in the living room? Oh, fiddle-de-de. Well, I’m here, so might as well vacuum. She went to get the vacuum in the laundry room. Once she got there she remembered. Oh, I meant to gather up some clothes! Silly me!
In the bedroom again, she stood staring until she thought, oh, that’s right – I need to clean out the closet and straighten it up some. So many clothes? She went to the garage to get some boxes to put clothes for donation to charity.
Jack was in the garage when she got there. He turned to her and asked, “Honey, what am I doing here in the garage?”
Joleen sighed and rolled her eyes, “Oh, Jack, you’re just so forgetful.”
Hmmmm – what am I doing here in the garage? Don’t say anything to Jack, just pick up a screwdriver and leave.
